Now That’s Our Kind of GreenTM
At Saunders & Silverstein LLP, green represents a way of doing business in a manner that is both sensitive to and respectful of the environment. As part of our ambitious, self-imposed Green Initiative, we are proactively reassessing, adjusting, and flat-out changing our internal firm operations. In undertaking this Green Initiative, our goal is to do more than just minimize our impact on the environment. Rather, we seek to improve the environmental landscape through our own actions and by supporting individuals and organizations who share our vision of a better Earth. Now that’s our kind of green™.
While our Green Initiative is an ongoing effort that we plan to continually develop and expand, some of the actions we are currently taking include:
- Obtaining Carbon Free™ certification from Carbunfund.org, in recognition of our firm’s commitment to offset the carbon emissions generated by the operation of our law practice
- Using solar energy to charge small electronic devices
- Purchasing Energy Star® certified computers and other electronic equipment
- Replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient compact fluorescent bulbs
- Unplugging certain devices when not in use to minimize electricity use
- Organizing our office in a manner that takes advantage of natural light, thereby reducing our dependence on electrical lighting
- Integrating office furniture made of recycled materials
- Replacing our office cleaners with environmentally friendly products provided by our client, Greenfeet LLC
- Increasing recycling effort within the office
- Ensuring proper disposal of any hazardous substances
- Use of organic liquid soaps in kitchen and restrooms
In addition to reassessing how we operate our law practice, we are also seeking to work with individuals and companies who are committed to environmental preservation and education. Some of our eco-friendly clients include:
I’M ORGANIC, NORTHEAST ORGANIC FARMING ASSOCIATION OF VERMONT, GREENFEET, and ROXANA ILLUMINATED PERFUME are trademarks of their respective owners and are used with permission.
